Mental Math Abacus

Abacus

Many people think Abacus education is about Maths. Unfortunately, some Institutions, who wants to make some quick bucks are also supporting the same argument and minting the money from gullible parents in the name of teaching Mathematics. Abacus education is not about mathematics. Mathematics is a vast subject.

In Abacus method, only basic arithmetic’s are taught. Using this basic arithmetic’s, we try to develop the Concentration, Listening Skills, Visualization, Memory, and Speed in the children. Once the child acquires the above, naturally his/her self confidence will get improved and they will be able to answer any question put by teacher without fear. Since we are working with basic arithmetic’s, children will be able to calculate the sums faster and if any child has phobia for numbers, it will vanish.

Some Abacus Institutions say they are teaching Decimals, Squares, and Percentages etc., which are nothing but regular basic arithmetic’s only with added logic’s. The basic aim of any Abacus Training program is to develop Concentration, Listening Skills, Visualization, Memory, and Speed in the children, not to teach mathematics.

Most of the Institutions generally conduct classes once in a week, preferably on Saturdays & Sundays for 2 hours duration. If sufficient No. of students are interested, classes can be conducted on any other day of the week also. The students are supposed to work daily one page at home so that they can regularly look at the image of Abacus. When the child works with Abacus regularly, the image will store in his/her mind and when they do mental calculations, it will become easy for them to recall the image and move the beads in their mind and do the mental sums.

Admission for Abacus Training Program is open to all children, who are in the age group of 4 to 12 years and know how to read and write 0 to 9. Unlike schools, there is no specific period for admission. Students can enroll at any point of time. Once 15-20 enquiries are received, we can form a new batch & conduct Abacus Training Program.
